I injured my knee last week while running, so I'm spending my weekend icing it to heal it up so I can hike!

Sadly, I know my knee won't cooperate for the hike. I should be good for the next one!

Looking forward to do seeing everyone tonight...not wanting to scare anyone off, but in the interest of sharing knowledge, please be aware that there have been recent sightings of a mountain lion in the park, and that with the unseasonably warm weather, snakes have been coming out of hibernation early this season.... (I usually bring a hiking stick with me).... if this makes you uncomfortable, I will completely understand if you choose to cancel this time.. otherwise, see you there!

Could you be more descriptive of what happens on this hike?? It just lists trail names..(Greek to me) do you all stopped and eat on a hilltop peak like the other hikingOC groups or is it a quick hike.. what do you see or what is trail like? Anything more please

    March 18, 2014

    • Grace

Carey, tonight's hike is a short, in - and - out hike along a pretty easy trail. At the end of the trail, some take a bteak, and others do another quick 5 minute loop, then we head back. Trail is mostly hard packed dirt and are very well maintained, and we'll be hiking through oak trees and open spaces. If we're lucky we may see some deer....keep your eyes peeled for snakes, and unfortunately, there have been sightings of a mountain lion in the park recently, so be aware of that as well... looking forward to seeing you there!

Excited to do this since I'm new to California! I read about the mountain lion thing but we should be okay if in a pack. They usually go for single runners/walkers. I only know this due to hiking in Colorado 10years ago and encountered two of them.

Guess you are not concerned about the recent lion sightings there.

Wasn't aware that there were recent sightings....will look Into it, but I've been hiking there for years, never had a problem...but, of course, I don't want anyone to take any risks that they're not comfortable with....
