NDC Sydney - A Combined User Group Event

Details

IMPORTANT: DATE AND NIGHT CHANGE

Instead of being the last Tuesday of the month, we're moving things back a week and to the Wednesday.

----

The first ever NDC {Sydney} (http://ndcsydney.com/) conference is running this week, so we're doing a combined user group meetup with the F# Sydney (https://www.meetup.com/fsharpsydney/) group and have invited some of the NDC speakers to come chat with our wonderful local developer community.

Additionally, because there's an NDC Speaker's event on afterwards, we're going to start the social stuff a little earlier and wrap up the formal stuff by 7:30pm, so those involved can make it to their next event.

Damian Edwards - An AMA Session (Ask Me Anything)

Damian is an Aussie, who moved to Redmond a while back and got involved in a couple of small ASP.NET related products at Microsoft you might have heard of; WebForms, SignalR, and ASP.NET Core. You might even have used some of them :-)

Given we love interactive sessions, we've decided to make this completely interactive! Damian is simply going to stand at the front of the room while you pepper him with questions. Awesome!

As a way of having a bank of questions to start off with, add any burning questions you have as a comment and we'll ask it on the night.

Mark Seemann - Continuous Everything

Mark is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and writes and blogs on a variety of topics, from .NET Dependency Injection (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1935182501/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1935182501&linkCode=as2&tag=ploeh-20), CQRS, Windows Azure, SOLID, TDD and unit test patterns.

Mark has a knack for covering advanced topics in a structured, approachable way - his Pluralsight courses (https://www.pluralsight.com/authors/mark-seemann) come highly recommended, and topics include Functional Architecture, Property-Based Testing in F#, Test Driven Development in F#, Type Driven Development in F#, Advanced Unit Testing and Outside-in TDD.

For tonight, he's going to have a chat about CI/CD and related content

Rachel Reese - TBA

Rachel Reese is a long-time software engineer and math[s] geek who can often be found talking to random strangers about the joys of functional programming and F#. She currently handles training & evangelism for Jet.com in the NYC area

Rachel has formed the habit of starting user groups: so far in Hoboken, NJ (Pluralsight Study Group), Nashville, TN (@NashFSharp) and Burlington, VT (@VTFun). She's also an ASPInsider, an F# MVP, a Xamarin MVP, a community enthusiast, one of the founding @lambdaladies, and a Rachii. You can find her on twitter, @rachelreese.

btw: don't let Rachel's mild-mannered alter ego fool you for a second. They take F# seriously over there in Jet.com land. They've got something like 720M in funding, but who's counting? Something's cooking!

Other speakers are currently being lined up. We'll have more details soon!

Note: Because this is going to be a popular night, RSVPs will only open 2 days beforehand to limit the number of pre-emptive RSVPers who plan on going but then don't attend. Thanks for your understanding :-)
