Socrates Cafe - 2010 Final - update!
Monday, December 13, 2010 11:17 AM
Only three days until our final Socrates Cafe for the year - we're looking forward to it and we hope you are, too. This email is just to update you on the formal philosophy part of the evening - in which we invite you to be a part!
Most of this night will be just free-flow conversation, but we will have a little formal-ish section and we're inviting YOU to speak for up to three minutes on our chosen topic, What's the point? Of WHAT, you ask? Well, of anything you care to talk about! Related or unrelated to philosophy - we don't care. We also don't care HOW you present, but please note that Katherine now has an official referee whistle and she's not afraid to use it if you go overtime.
What's the point of Socrates Cafe for you?
What's the point of philosophy?
What's the point of existing?
What's the point of your pencil like?
What's the point of that film you saw last week?
Please contact Katherine if you'd like to say your bit - either beforehand through the website or on the night.
The Food and Drink:
Kammadhenu is a casual restaurant with stacks of vegetarian options - get a dosa for yourself, or share a feast with your SocCaf friends. If the food isn't your thing, have a drink instead - the venue is licensed. BYO wine is also permitted if you're eating.
We're looking forward to a good night of food, drink and conversation. Whether you're a regular attendee at our groups or a complete newbie, we hope you can come!
Katherine & Tim.
