Notes from the December Socrates Cafe Meetup and other stuff...

Dear all,

At the December Meetup last week, we discussed the concept of Freedom. The original questions were "how do we find it?" and "do we have no hope if we are not free?" We had an interesting discussion, despite not seeking to answer those two questions. If you'd like to see a summary of the ideas put forward, go to the Message Board on the Socrates Cafe page: Sydney Socrates Cafe

Also, one of our members has provided information on other philosophy events that may interest you - see Mr Y's post, also in the Message Board.

Our next Meetup WAS scheduled for the last Wednesday in January, but several people expressed a hope that there'd be something before that. So, for those who are still in Sydney waiting for the Sydney Festival to begin - there'll be an extra Meetup on Wednesday 7th January, just for you!

Finally, if you would like to have your say on there being MORE than one Socrates Cafe Meetup per month, please see the Polls section of the website.

Thanks to all who've come along to contribute to our discussions this year. For those who haven't been yet (or in a while), I hope to meet you in 2009. Happy holidays if you holiday, and happy something-else if you don't.
