F#/Data Analytics Hands-On Lab

This month we will:

Adam Haile will show how to do the Twitter analysis using a more functional style

Next, we are going to take a walk through F# for Quantitative Finance.  By the end of the session, you will have a working project that will consume public options data and calculate some common statistics used to analyze options.  If you make any money trading options, please remember to share back to TRINUG :-)

Please come with a laptop and Visual Studio 2010+ or Mono installed.

I have fixed the charts and typos per the feedback during the presentation. It is available in the More -> Files upload area. If you see any other errata bring it my attention. Jamie will upload the latest labs document.

Conrad: Agreed. Jamie really puts a lot of hard work into this, and it shows with things like that excellent handout.

Jamie's F# code exercises were right on. Lots of hard work went into that. Mine was the easy part :-)

Thanks Rob ... it was a fun group to present to. In answer to Inwah's comment on the regression line not fitting the available data points ... that is because there was a scroll bar at the bottom and what was visible was only a couple years of daily data with the rest scrolled off the left side of the window. I will update the slides to fix that and other typos I found and upload to the file area today.

I know it says right here on the Meetup site that we're not meeting at MetLife tomorrow, and instead meeting at Progress Software (DataDirect). But, my original calendar item was stillpointing to MetLife. So, I just thought another reminder couldn't hurt:)

I'm out of the country this month, so we'll be back to our regular schedule @ MetLife in July!

Wow, news travels fast around here! You're correct; I'm working in the Gulf/Middle East office for the rest of the month. I'll be back soon-ish!

Arrrgghhh, I will be out of town on business. Will you be having the same type of handout available as last time?

I thought this was next week I must be losing it.
