"Economics of Compassion - Celebrating Our Favorite Examples!" (EOC-COFE) is the theme on the 3-foot by 5-foot TTWalks' celebration flag, for the TTWalks registered theme group in the 2013 Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Marade (http://drmartinlkingjrchc.org/). On behalf of TTWalks' members, Fran Rew will sponsor a new flag representing TTWalks' additional favorite EOC-COFE theme examples to celebrate in their 2014 to 2018 MLK Marades.

Every year, on the 3rd Monday morning of January, Denver, Colorado, USA, has the biggest celebration in the world for Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday. Over 30,000 people participate each year in the MLK Marade (http://drmartinlkingjrchc.org/).

Because "BIKING" was TTWalks members' most popular favorite example in 2013, our EOC-COFE theme group has been approved to include walkers behind pedicabs, and pedicabs behind bicycles, at the front of the Marade.

For each year from 2013 to 2018, Fran and Richard Rew will be volunteering to train as TTWalks' EOC-COFE Theme Marade Marshals.

TTWalks' Marade Marshal Richard Rew will guide the "BIKING" theme celebration for both bicyclists and pedicabs. TTWalks' Marade Marshall Fran Rew will guide the celebrations for the theme walkers.

Dress in layers. Although the morning may be cold, the day is expected to be one of the most beautiful sunny days ever experienced for an MLK Marade!

Even though the Marade itself begins at 10:40 AM, our TTWalks' group needs to meet at 9:30 AM to begin decorating and coordinating our celebration. Richard will be bringing snacks, hot chocolate and decorations in his bicycle trailer.

Themap below (http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/1/5/f/6/highres_196925622.jpeg) shows our theme group's starting point and time at 9:30 AM on the northwest side of the MLK Memorial statue at the fork in the road before 17th Street and before the Thatcher fountain statue. Here's a link to our revised custom Google map (https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=212581353121285382587.0004d31dcf995807032ee&msa=0&ll=39.741745,-104.96428&spn=0.016929,0.02871) for our group's starting location. Please bring our cell phone numbers with you, in case there are any changes in location. We need to follow the guidance of the Marade coordinators on the day of the event.

Fran's cell is (720) 474-5182, and Richard's is (720) 254-8000.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said this about compassion:

http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/3/f/a/event_85558362.jpeg

"True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar...it comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring."

Please share your one or more of your favorite examples of an "Economics of Compassion" that you'd like to celebrate in the Marades and on our
TTWalks' Message Board (https://www.meetup.com/TTWalks/messages/boards/thread/19285082/0/#63788412).

WHAT'S POSSIBLE? Economics is the art of the possible.

Our Message Board and our celebration in the Marade includes a "What's Possible?" section with humor, creativity, and imagination. Fran started our "What's Possible? "section of our Message Board with her personal vision of celebrating the hope for a future J-Card, as an additional accounting tool (http://tinyurl.com/Jobs-Card) to help individuals to create their own new job opportunities. Please write whatever you personally feel is an example of an Economics of Compassion that is well worth celebrating, whether it's a one-liner example, or a detailed example.

http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/8/9/e/event_84887262.jpegAlso, please feel free to add to our Message Board topic "List of
Quotes about the "Economics
of Compassion". This thread of quotes starts with the humorously popularized number "42", the number which was made famous by the science fiction comedy "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as the numerical ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. But then they discovered, they didn't know the ultimate question.

Could the ultimate question be:

How can we grow a compassionate economy?

Could Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s quote #42 lead us to the many ultimate positive directions and answers? Let's hope so.

Please share and celebrate your personal favorite examples of an Economics of Compassion with us throughout each year. You can upload photos of your favorite examples in our photo album titled
"Celebrating an Economics of Compassion" (https://www.meetup.com/TTWalks/photos/11044662/) and/or write about your favorite examples in our TTWalks Message Board (https://www.meetup.com/TTWalks/messages/boards/thread/19285082/0/#63788412).

The 2013 MLK Marade celebration flag listed 8 favorite TTWalks examples (Past, Present and Future):

#1 "BIKING"

#2 "Heirloom Food Seed Exchange Library"

#3 J-Card"

#4 and #5 are tied "Steven Stevens" and "DJ Cavem"

#6 "George Washington Carver"

#7 "CREATIVITY", and

#8 "Cosmic Web."

In 2013, TTWalks began a draft of a co-authored and co-edited Creative Commons free eBook annual editions to share more information about each annual MLK Marade celebration of the EOC-COFE theme. Each annual edition of this book will be formatted as a children's book speaking to the inner child within us all. TTWalks will introduce each edition of this public access free eBook to TTWalks' members by the end of March each year until 2018.
