Silicon Valley Storytellers: Arbor Day & Tall Tale Champ Declan Shalvey

Theme: Arbor Day

What would some of our favorite stories be like without trees? Where would Robin Hood's Merry Men hide? What would we use for lighting campfires for ghost stories? And what would whomp the Weasley's' car in the Harry Potter series?

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: Declan Shalvey, Division B's Tall Tale Champion will tell his winning tale, "My Streak of Good Luck". Don't miss your chance to see it in person!

Storytelling is an important part of everyday communication and a great skill to develop for your family, career, and entertainment. A skilled storyteller can help others understand the world around them, or take them a voyage through fantasy, escaping the daily grind.

The Silicon Valley Storytellers is an advanced club for Toastmasters, where members focus on story creation and delivery. Our members bring prepared speeches, or engage in story development exercises. It’s fun, lively, and entertaining!

I'm relieved I won't have to do an impromptu speech. I think I can manage 30 seconds. Thank you!

No worries, just come to the meeting at 6pm and we will get you started. You can just sit back and watch if you like. We will offer you the chance to say a few words to the group if you like, just about what you thought of the meeting, but other than that all we ask is that you have fun!

No worries, this would be my first time ever at a Toastmasters' event, and it's an advanced level ! Maybe there's a You Tube Toastmasters for Rookies, how-to video we could watch.

Shae, no worries, we learn by doing. We will offer you the chance to say a few words, just for 30 seconds or so, about what you thought of the meeting, and no one will judge you. You'll find that once you do it a few times, it becomes second nature before you know it. I look forward to meeting you!

Welcome guests! No need to write anything. Silicon Valley Storytellers meetings follow the Toastmasters meeting format. We are a speakers club and tell stories in prepared speeches as well as off-the-cuff "Tale Topics". Come early to (optionally) purchase food or drink to help the club pay for the use of the meeting room. Watch us! We don't have a youtube, but we can take that into consideration. See you at the meeting.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
