About us
The 'Hash House' Harriers are a social running group (although with many walkers) without formal rules or organization. It is international, with thousands of groups in most major cities, the world's largest social running fraternity.
There is a focus on the social element and not taking things too seriously. The group means different things to different people – from getting in a decent (and interesting) run, to walking a dog, or simply getting outside and having a drink (or two). Everyone is welcome.
We meet every Thursday and on the first Saturday of the month. Each week, someone different hosts (so it's always a little different in venue, route, theme and start point). Anybody can join by showing up at the designated meeting point.
We urge you to join. If you have questions, turn up and ask them.
We aim to bring together people who want to socialise, enjoy nonsense and have a bit of exercise at the same time. It's a great forum to meet new people (and have the option to run away from anyone boring!). There are all shapes & sizes, races, ages, intelligence and fitness levels.
We cater to young and old, fast or slow, fit or 'not-so-fit'! The main prerequisites are a sense of humour, open-mindedness and a general sense of fun. We are mainly English-speaking but most of us can speak (some) German.
There is always alcohol (which is part of the 'hash' tradition) and snacks at the end of our poor excuses for runs (covered by 5CHF), along with non-alcoholic alternatives for the real athletes and those who just prefer not to.
Plenty more information can be found on www.zh3.ch and on the Meetup information page or each event (which usually has a loose theme, but are all pretty similar, involving following/finding trail (the route) using markings on the ground).
If we do not accept your Meetup request immediately, give us some time, we will be on-on it shortly. Don't be afraid to just turn up and complain in person if this happens to you. You will be more than welcome.
Any questions? (how would you like my finger in your ear?). If that amuses you even slightly, you will fit in perfectly!

ZH3 Hash # 1749: Aargau hash, wear white socks(Social Running/Walking/Drinking)
Glanzenberg Train Station, Glanzenberg, Zürich, CHHare (someone to set the route) is Out Of Africa. Come join us!
Where:
See location. Typically within Zurich Zone 10. Look for English speakers wearing running gear. When:
We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards. All Welcome:
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful.
• The aim is to find the 'Beer Stop' at the end of the 'trail' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The 'Hare', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• After Trail, we group for ~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This 'Circle' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards. Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (Hashes) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - or you can just come along and find out. See you there.
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.

ZH3 Hash # 1750: Red Dress Run 2026
Simply Theatre Academy, Gladbachstrasse 119, 8044, Zürich, CHWHAT?
It’s time for the most un-serious, most fun, run of the year. EVERYONE regardless of species or gender affiliation will wear their finest red dress and follow a trail around the beautiful city of Zürich. There will be stylish haberdashery freebies, a fabulous location, bawdy singing, and a LOT of beer, followed by Tacos and more beer. There may be Pub Crawl stops (bring means of payment if imbibing). There will be Dancing Dead Diva stops to honour Bonnie, Dolly and one or two others. Not sure ‘honour’ is the right word. Some might still be alive. Anyways. The hare is Cockless, so expect everything to go with the precision of a Swiss watch with absolutely no chaos. Oh yes, there will also be Wuthering Stops. Also, it's for a good cause.
WHY?
In 1987, a woman named Donna Reinhart got gussied up for what turned out to be the worst date ever. Not only was she taken to the Long Beach Hash, she was then told to “wait in the truck” due to her unsuitable outfit. But Donna, being a total badass, joined the run in her pretty red dress. This impressed the hashers so much that they began holding a Red Dress Run annually in her honour, raising money for charity. Other hashes have adopted the custom and now thousands of dollars are generated each year for good causes around the world.WHO (are we giving the money to)?
Once again we will be raising money for 143.ch, a mental health crisis hotline offering support for German and English speakers in Switzerland by phone, email and webchat. This is a cause close to all our hearts after the tragic loss of our beloved co-hasher Bling Dong (Matt Moss) last year. The suggested cost of this hash will be 25CHF, and you are very welcome to donate more if you wish to. If you wish to prepay, please make a transfer to the below account with the reference "RDR 2024 (your hash name)"
