About us
The 'Hash House' Harriers are a social running group (although with many walkers) without formal rules or organization. It is international, with thousands of groups in most major cities, the world's largest social running fraternity.
There is a focus on the social element and not taking things too seriously. The group means different things to different people – from getting in a decent (and interesting) run, to walking a dog, or simply getting outside and having a drink (or two). Everyone is welcome.
We meet every Thursday and on the first Saturday of the month. Each week, someone different hosts (so it's always a little different in venue, route, theme and start point). Anybody can join by showing up at the designated meeting point.
We urge you to join. If you have questions, turn up and ask them.
We aim to bring together people who want to socialise, enjoy nonsense and have a bit of exercise at the same time. It's a great forum to meet new people (and have the option to run away from anyone boring!). There are all shapes & sizes, races, ages, intelligence and fitness levels.
We cater to young and old, fast or slow, fit or 'not-so-fit'! The main prerequisites are a sense of humour, open-mindedness and a general sense of fun. We are mainly English-speaking but most of us can speak (some) German.
There is always alcohol (which is part of the 'hash' tradition) and snacks at the end of our poor excuses for runs (covered by 5CHF), along with non-alcoholic alternatives for the real athletes and those who just prefer not to.
Plenty more information can be found on www.zh3.ch and on the Meetup information page or each event (which usually has a loose theme, but are all pretty similar, involving following/finding trail (the route) using markings on the ground).
If we do not accept your Meetup request immediately, give us some time, we will be on-on it shortly. Don't be afraid to just turn up and complain in person if this happens to you. You will be more than welcome.
Any questions? (how would you like my finger in your ear?). If that amuses you even slightly, you will fit in perfectly!

Your glamorous Hares have made a pop splendid trail Especially For You. A trail that will have you doing The Loca-Motion from A to A and a popfantastic drink stop to have you Spinning Around. A refreshing swim stop where hopefully the water won’t get In Your Eyes. A trail so good it might just get named trail of the year - I Should Be So Lucky!
Bag drop at the mobility car at the end of Hermetschloostrasse. Final stop on the bus 31. VIP glitzy On after at Micas Garten.
Hares are Just Beggin' For It & Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey.
Where:
See location. Typically within Zurich Zone 10. Look for English speakers wearing running gear. When:
We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards. All Welcome:
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful.
• The aim is to find the 'Beer Stop' at the end of the 'trail' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The 'Hare', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• After Trail, we group for ~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This 'Circle' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards. Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (Hashes) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - or you can just come along and find out. See you there.
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.
