On this adventure, we'll explore one of Utah's world-class parks. Bryce Canyon features colors, cliffs, spires, canyons, dark-sky wonders, and day-time oohs-and-aaaahs, all in one package. We'll hike up to 12 miles a day up, over and around the park, car-camp three nights and then chill in luxury the final night in the park's sumptuous lodge, where we have reserved all of the top-floor rooms.
ITINERARY:
Wednesday May 8: Leave town early or after work, drive 5 hours to Fruita, and camp in the state park.
Thursday: Drive 7 hours to the park, and hope the group campsite is still available (cannot be reserved). Otherwise, camp in what's available.
Friday: Hike from dawn to dust, retire to campground.
Saturday: Hike from dawn to dust, retire to campground for a group BBQ dinner.
Sunday: Hike dawn to dust, then retire to the 4 rooms on the top floor of the historic lodge, and dine in the lodge. We have four rooms, each with two beds and a cot or pull-away. That's three per room.
Monday: Drive 12 hours home.Limit: 6 (from this meet-up, and six others from other groups)
Fees: park entrance fee, campground fees, $120 for the night at the lodge, plus $10 for the group BBQ dinner and your share of gas if you're a passenger.

Ryan - Beaver Brook End to End Adventure!Windy Saddle Park, Golden, CO
10 miles one way with 2,000' elevation gain.
This trip doesn't make it's way onto the schedule very often. It's a close-in hike that has a more remote feel to it. We'll take this one from west to east and finish at the Windy Saddle TH. After a downhill start, we encounter one tough 1,200' climb at the 3 mile mark and the rest is rolling terrain. There are some nice views on this journey. We'll assess the weather before we leap and at some point along this course the best retreat is a forward one.
Please bring your pack, layers, fluids, snacks/lunch, and good footwear. I'm not anticipating needing spikes, but let's see what this week brings.
Here's how this works. We all meet at the Windy Saddle TH off Lookout Mountain Road. We then combine into 4 vehicles and our vital shuttle drivers take us to the Beaver Brook TH where we begin the hike. It's about a 20 minute drive between the 2 trailheads. Once we're safely back at the Windy Saddle TH, one or two of us will take our drivers back to pick up their vehicles. Please comment below if you're willing to be a shuttle driver - we need you and the trip doesn't play out without you.
After, let's split the difference between the 2 trailheads and go to Over Yonder and Morris & Mae Food Hall for some refreshment. We might feel as though we've been over yonder after this trip.
