Olympic National Youth Championship event needs Kayak Volunteers

Looking for volunteers that will provide on the water kayak oversight for the National Youth Championship for the US Olympic Committee to be held on Sunday, 4 August from 6:15 AM to 12:00 PM at the Voice of America Metro Park Lake. Sunday is the final day of qualifying heats for 450 swimmers to try to make the US Olmpic Team.  There will be two powered safety boats also on the water with numerous life guards scattered about.

Volunteers will act only as spotters for swimmers that may be in trouble and allow the swimmer to hold onto your kayak until a safety boat arrives . Volunteers are not expected to perform any water rescues. Kayakers will stay aside the pack and out of the way of swimmers.

Volunteers are asked to be there by 6:15 AM and park near the lodge for the safety briefing. We will then drive to our launching area nearby and park and launch from there. You can leave any time that you wish. There is no obligation and you can get out of the water and take a break whenever you feel like it. Lunch, snacks and water will be provided.

Call me if you need further information. [masked]

And the TSK legal waiver.

What a beautiful morning! I had a great time, and learned a lot too. Good to see Larry and Darryl again, great meeting the rest of you!

I had a blast and really enjoyed meting you all! Also, we were wondering what TYR meant, so I looked it up. TYR is a swimsuit company and the name comes from the mythical Norse god of warriors and deity among all athletes
