In the past few years, Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCS) have grown significantly in popularity. Partially fueled by the success of GitHub, Git has grown to be hugely popular with developers, especially those working with open source projects. Recently, Microsoft has integrated Git as a version control option in its ALM platform, Team Foundation Server. In this presentation, we’ll present an introduction to Git, demo the integration of Git with TFS and Visual Studio, and talk about working with OSS at Microsoft.
Presentor: Matt Mitrik
Matt Mitrik is a Program Manager on Team Foundation Server at Microsoft. Specifically, he owns Version Control in TFS, including the integration with Visual Studio. Most recently, Matt has been working to integrate Git into TFS and Visual Studio and he’s enjoyed the accompanying challenge of working closely with the open source community to build the integration. Outside of work, Matt enjoys running, hiking, cooking, exploring the growing restaurant scene in the Raleigh-Durham area, and rocking out at local music venues.
