Urban Sustainability Happy Hour (with Paula Segal of 596 Acres)
Details
Join the NYC Urban Sustainability Meetup and the NYC Energy and Environment Happy Hour for our third joint event on July 7th from 6-8. Location is Woodrow's, a block east of City Hall.
Paula Segal from 596 Acres will start things at 6 with a short presentation on land, access and sustainability. We’re calling this discussion "Case Studies in the Commons." Paula will talk about the Living Lots project, an information clearinghouse that helps neighbors envision new uses for fenced, vacant lots -- particularly in disadvantaged neighborhoods -- through open data and mapping. She will touch on NYC REIC (NYCreic.org (http://nycreic.org/)) and highlight stories of commons at risk, including those of the Maple Street and Roger That gardens ( http://gothamist.com/2015/06/11/crown_heights_community_garden.php ).

We're excited to be partnering again with the NYC Energy and Environment Happy Hour after fantastic joint events featuring guest speaker Dong Ping Wong about + POOL (https://www.meetup.com/Urban-Sustainability-Happy-Hour-Meetup/events/221914778/) and Justin G. Moore who guided a walking tour of Hunter's Point South (https://www.meetup.com/Urban-Sustainability-NYC/events/222712916/).
