How was the food drive on Saturday? Well, we collected 17 shopping carts of food and hygiene items so I'd say it was a huge success! Everything was delivered to the Canandaigua VA yesterday and was received joyfully and tearfully. They were so thankful. Apparently they were running low on food, so our timing was perfect. The VA helps soldiers get started when they return home in addition to sending care packages to our active troops. A good portion of the donations will be shipped overseas.
Let's thank the patrons of the Brockport Walmart who humbly welcomed us and donated generously. One person went in for a single item and returned with a full cart of groceries totaling $90.
I'd also like to thank the volunteers who pitched in: Laurie, Mary Jean, Charlie, Teresa, Jim L., Jennifer, Rick, Patti, Jim D., Helen, Ronn, Chris, Tony, and Brad. Tell me if I left someone off the list by mistake.
This event was fun, satisfying, and fairly simple. Shall we do it again?
