What we’re about
Do you love to read thought provoking books? Does the thought of discussing them over a glass of fine wine fill you with joy and a sense that all is right with the world? Well we may be the group for you!
We are a welcoming group of individuals who meet each month to discuss, debate, laugh and share meaningful insights about our book of the month. Our members submit intriguing fictional and non-fictional book suggestions (recent releases as well as an occasional classic ) and new members often comment on how much they love our lineup. We also try to do a monthly social get together to promote friendship within the group. The people who join are bright, witty and have so many insights to share that it's a shame to limit our get togethers to just the book club.
Our meetup place of choice is Roberto's Ristorante at 483 Spring Rd. in Elmhurst. The wine, the small plates and the atmosphere, along with our monthly book discussions are truly to be savored.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Roberto's Ristorante, 483 Spring Road, (1 1/2 blocks south of St.. Charles Rd.), Elmhurst, IL, USPlease join your book club friends at Roberto's Ristorante in Elmhurst to discuss the critically acclaimed book The Road by Cormac McCarthy, for which he was recognized with the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
The Road details the journey of a father and his young son over several months in the post-apocalyptic future. Since many of our members enjoy having a book reveal itself, that is all of the details that we will disclose!

NOTE: Roberto's requires a $25 minimum food/beverage purchase.

Fall Wine Tasting at the Morton Arboretum
Morton Arboretum, 41 IL Route 53, Lisle, IL, USSpend a fall evening with your book club friends sampling more than 80 varieties of wine as you stroll through The Morton Arboretum’s Gerard T. Donnelly Grand Garden. Admire the changing leaves as you sip and enjoy the seasonal displays of colorful pumpkins, pansies, and chrysanthemums along the garden paths.
Thursday, October 16, 5:00 - 7:30 PM. The Thursday after the October book club meeting.
- General wine tasting admission is $58 ($48 Member).
- Each ticket holder can enjoy 25 tastings (1oz tastings).
- Designated Driver admission with Non-Alcoholic Tastings is $25 ($20 Member).
- Charcuterie options may be pre-ordered.
This event will feature live music by Louise Kelly Duo, who will perform jazz standards and renditions of popular songs throughout the evening.
Friends/spouses welcome!
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Will gauge interest through RSVP here and can purchase tickets closer to the event date if there is interest and weather looks favorable. Meet in Ticket Center at 4:45.

The City and Its Uncertain Walls by Haruki Murakami

Charles Rd.), Elmhurst, IL, USPlease join your book club friends at Roberto's Ristorante in Elmhurst to discuss the critically acclaimed book The City and Its Uncertain Walls in which the author, Haruki Murakami, presents a love story, a quest, and an ode to books and the libraries that house them. Murakami is known for blending realistic settings with surreal, dreamlike, or magical elements.
Our group has enjoyed discussing books written by authors whose first language is not English, as we often find fresh cultural insights and literary styles when they write about familiar experiences.
