The spine - tingling harmonies of the London Bulgarian Choir return to St Ethelburga's Centre on June 11th

St Ethelburga's welcomes the London Bulgarian Choir to complete a week exploring stories of reconciliation with Pax Christi's Peace Icon

Join Dessislava Stefanova and the London Bulgarian Choir for an evening of wonderful harmonies, spine-tingling resonance, ancient tales - both inspirational and comic ? focusing on Bulgarian folk and Orthodox songs.

Formed by Dessi in 2000, the choir has gone from a handful of singers performing for a few friends and family, to a 50-strong choir playing abbeys, concert halls, art galleries and festivals, wowing audiences and critics alike. The choir won BBC Radio 3's Open Choir of the Year competition (2006); has recorded a debut album; sang with indie rock bands, British Sea Power at Glastonbury , and Doves at the 2009 BBC Electric Proms; as well as performing at Musicport and Sidmouth folk festivals.
The choir recently won a grant from the BBC Choral Ambition Fund to have celebrated composer, Kiril Todorov, write music exclusively for its singers and musicians, some of which they plan to perform on their upcoming summer tour of festivals in Bulgaria , including the world-famous Koprivshtitsa.
