What we’re about
THE IDEA
It’s simple! We are a bunch of writers and artists who meet and work on our own projects. Each person works on their own work and sets their own targets. What you create is entirely up to you, but here is the difference: you are not alone. Others are around you, typing, scribbling or looking out into the distance. Their company will help you stay focused, stop you from drifting, and keep on creating!
THE RULES
• The primary rule is to not distract others from working on their work.
• People work on their own stuff and measure their own success - it’s not about critiquing or workshopping, although we’ll often chat before and afterward about how we’re going.
• The most important thing of all: have fun! :)
WHAT YOU NEED
• Write Together: pen and paper, computer, or whatever you like using to write. It can be good to have something to work on, such as a novel, short story, screenplay, poem etc, but it’s not required - why not see where it takes you?
• Art Together: pens, pencils, paints, paper, graphics tablets - whatever you use to get arty! You can sketch people around you or work on existing projects!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Sunday Writing Sprints (Online)Link visible for attendees
Hello writers! Would you like to make a dent in your word count? Bring any project you would like to work on, whether it's writing, editing, research or any other writing-related task. :)
Our Sunday Writing Sprint encourages us to put our heads down each week and write silently, together! We have a quick typed chat beforehand and afterwards to help motivate one another and network with other writers.
** How will this work? **
The group meets (online, via Slack) every Sunday night, from 7pm - 8.30pm, Sydney time.RSVP on meetup to get your secure link to join (the Slack group is called “Write Together Tuesdays.”)
** What’s the format? **
- 7pm - 7:15pm - quick chat/intros (typed)
- 7:15pm - 8:15pm - our one-hour writing sprint!
- 8:15pm - 8:30pm - wrap up chat (typed)
The main rule is that during our sprint, we don't distract the other writers but work on our own projects. The idea is that we actually write something (don't worry—we don't share our work, so there's no pressure)!
After the sprint, we can stay online if we wish for a (typed) chat about how our writing session went and any books we may have read—you know, our usual post-writing banter! We are a friendly bunch, so why not join us?
All the best, and see you (virtually, that is) on Sunday nights!
Thanks all,
AnnaPs: For those who already attend the Tuesday group, there will be a Sunday channel on your Slack side bar to click into for these sprints.
Pss: More info on Slack (and a searchable help centre to get started) is here: https://slack.com/intl/en-au/help
Bring on your 2025 writing goals, and see you soon!
