Announcing a new Meetup for NOVA Trail Dogs Hiking Club!

What: Medium Hike - Scott's Run Nature Preserve

When: Saturday, July 3,[masked]:00 AM

Price: $2.00 per person

Where:
Scott's Run Nature Preserve
7400 Georgetown Pike
McLean, VA 22102
[masked]

OK this hike is for those folks who might not like to drive nearly three hours and don't like to wake up too early :)

"Virginia's out-of-sight Scott's Run Nature Preserve, on the Potomac River near the beltway, is well supplied with flora, fauna, river views, and little-used hiking trails." - Trails.com

This is a leashed hike featuring stream crossings (concrete pillars to assist), Potomac River views, and waterfalls. Some rocky areas, also expect wet or muddy conditions in places.

It's not recommended to let your dog drink from Scott's Run, so please bring plenty of water.

-----
Trail Type: Loop
Length: 4-miles
Difficulty: Medium (see our Trail Rating System for more details)
Hiking Time:[masked] hours (including play time)
Facilities: None

See our Files section to the left for a trail map of the area.

-----
Directions:
From Capital Beltway (Interstate 495) in McLean, Virginia, take Exit 44 and access Georgetown Pike (VA 193) heading roughly west. Proceed for 1 mile, passing a small parking lot on right en route, and then turn right into preserve's main parking lot. Turnoff is hidden from view, but is just after Swinks Mill Road sign on left, and just before large sign on right for Betty Cooke Bridge. If lot is full, we'll use the small parking lot, and start hike there.

For customized driving directions, see our Google Event Map. Click on the Parking icon in the middle and select To Here to enter your starting location.

There is no real need to setup a carpool for this event, but that being said anyone who doesn't have a car should post to the comments section requesting a ride-share. I will be coming from the West Alexandria area.
