New Meetup: Kayaking in Piermont NY tomorrow afternoon

Announcing a new Meetup for New York Hiking and Outdoor Adventurers!

What: Kayaking in Piermont NY tomorrow afternoon

When: August 8,[masked]:15 PM

Price: $2.00 per person

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

It looks like tomorrow is going to be a great day so let's go to Piermont NY for some afternoon kayaking. This will be easy kayaking in a salt marsh along the Hudson. We'll be going with Paradise Canoe and Kayak. A quote from their website that I always find funny "If you fall in, nothing will eat you." I haven't been able to make arrangements for a group reservation so we might have to wait a little while before hitting the water.

Piermont is a nice little town around 40 north of the city with bars, restaurants, ice cream places, galleries and parks so we won't have any trouble occupying ourselves. The actual address is on their site.

Here are the rates for kayak rental.

To get there take Rockland Coach bus from gate 220 of the Port Authority at 12:22. A ticket costs $8.35 which you can buy in the main ticket area in the south wing. Rockland Coach/Coach USA has their own ticket window. You'll want to get off by the war momument, right before getting into town.

If you'll be driving, please indicate where you're coming from. There will be a good spot to pick people up along the Long Path, a mile north of the GWB, which is an easy walk from the city. Hopefully we can all carbon pool up there.

I'll e-mail my phone number to those who RSVP.

Bring a change of clothes, hat, sunscreen, blanket, frisbee and anything you'd think to take with you to a park.

For food, you can bring something or we can go shopping at place in town and have a picnic.

If you're an ambitious bicyclist, you can cross the GWB into NJ and head north along 9W and make your way into Piermont.

I'm asking for $2 to cover our group's meetup fee which you can give me in Piermont.
