New Meetup: Hike on Sunday in Bear Mountain State Park

Announcing a new Meetup for New York Hiking and Outdoor Adventurers!

What: Hike on Sunday in Bear Mountain State Park

When: August 30,[masked]:00 AM

Price: $5.00 per person

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

We'll hike around 8 miles in Bear Mountain with plenty of ups and downs and the resulting good views. With any luck we'll actually get some of the rain that is in the forecast.

We'll start the hike across from the Iona Island Bird Sanctuary on 9W that is around 1.5 miles south of the Bear Mountain Bridge.

Public transportation to reach Bear Mountain is both expensive and on the early side so for everyone who is coming from south of the George Washington Bridge, we'll meet at Ross Dock Picnic Area. at 10am. It is 1/2 mile north of the GWB in NJ on the Palisades Interstate Parkway and the 1st exit when heading North. For people coming from the city, that means you get to walk across the GWB and get to stretch your legs before a long car ride. Drivers, we'll make sure your gas and tolls are covered if you're taking passengers.

Everyone else, meet at the start point at 11am.

This will be an intermediate level hike. Bring lunch, water, rain gear and have your hiking boots on. Something to change into would also be nice to have if we end up getting wet.

Meetup fee will be a $5 contribution to The Conservation Fund.

RSVP 'no' and make your donation. After you donate, send me a portion of the e-mail you receive from them and I'll change your 'no' to a 'yes'. If you're short on cash, as an alternative you can find us a sponsor or lead an event for the group.

If by Saturday morning, it doesn't look like we have enough drivers, I'll switch the hike to Harriman.

Post hike Korean food in Fort Lee.
