It will be a fun thing to do when walking around old town and then get something to eat afterwards.

The route: Starting from our meetup point by the bicycle rack across Diagonal Road from the King Street Metro parking lot, we’ll walk counter-clockwise through Old Town Alexandria, passing by many of the city’s historic and architecturally significant landmarks.

The walk is an easy 4 miles of smiles and should take about 2 hours. The surface is paved throughout, with inclines here and there and steps in places.

How to get there:

• Metro: King Street Station is on the Blue and Yellow
Lines.

• Driving: From I-395, take VA-7 / King Street east about 2.8 miles. Take the first right after passing under the railroad (Daingerfield Street), and an immediate right onto Diagonal Road. From US-1 / Richmond Highway, follow King Street west 0.5 miles, take a sharp left onto Daingerfield, and the first right onto Diagonal Road. There's free Saturday parallel parking in the area, especially along streets a block north of King Street and beyond.

What to bring: Water, comfy shoes, and your furry friend if desired (leashes, please). The forecast is mostly sunny with a high of 37 degrees, so dress appropriately. As a reminder, this is a kids-free zone, no one under 18 years of age is permitted.

Administrative stuff: There are restrooms and drinking fountains at the Ramsey House (Alexandria Visitor Center) along our way. Before the walk, there is a Starbuck’s northeast of the station for a beverage and a pit stop.
