Let's meetup and walk around Old Town

It will be a fun thing to do when walking around old town and then get something to eat afterwards.

The route: Starting from our meetup point by the bicycle rack across Diagonal Road from the King Street Metro parking lot, we’ll walk counter-clockwise through Old Town Alexandria, passing by many of the city’s historic and architecturally significant landmarks.

The walk is an easy 4 miles of smiles and should take about 2 hours. The surface is paved throughout, with inclines here and there and steps in places.

A Google map of our route is here: http://tinyurl.com/noknjvx

A print version (pdf) of the map with notes is here: http://tinyurl.com/oezlxxv

How to get there:

• Metro: King Street Station is on the Blue and Yellow
Lines.

• Driving: From I-395, take VA-7 / King Street east about 2.8 miles. Take the first right after passing under the railroad (Daingerfield Street), and an immediate right onto Diagonal Road. From US-1 / Richmond Highway, follow King Street west 0.5 miles, take a sharp left onto Daingerfield, and the first right onto Diagonal Road. There's free Saturday parallel parking in the area, especially along streets a block north of King Street and beyond.

What to bring: Water, comfy shoes, and your furry friend if desired (leashes, please). The forecast is mostly sunny with a high of 37 degrees, so dress appropriately. As a reminder, this is a kids-free zone, no one under 18 years of age is permitted.

Administrative stuff: There are restrooms and drinking fountains at the Ramsey House (Alexandria Visitor Center) along our way. Before the walk, there is a  Starbuck’s northeast of the station for a beverage and a pit stop.

Changing RSVP due to expected36 degree temps and head cold; bad combo. Opening a spot for someone who will enjoy. Thanks for all you do, John!

Since we're meeting at King Street Metro, Joe Theismann's would be a good place to catch dinner after the walk, they have great food and can usually accommodate a large group!

No, no - we'll still be doing morning hikes, so don't look forward to a whole year of sleeping in! Just switching it up a bit, by request.

There is free parking in the lot behind the George Washington Masonic Memorial (just west of the King Street Metro Station) until dark every day, and there are usually plenty of spaces available.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
