It will be brisk and breezy on Saturday, but let's take a morning walk from Jones Point into Old Town Alexandria and check out the waterfront.

The route: From the old ship’s rudder under Wilson Bridge we'll walk south to the Jones Point Lighthouse, then east and north along the Mount Vernon Trail and the Alexandria waterfront to the Torpedo Factory, with a detour through the Wilkes Street Tunnel along the way.) From there we'll continue north along the waterfront to First Street/Canal Plaza, walk two blocks west to Royal, and return south to Jones Point Park along Royal, Fairfax, and Lee Streets, passing through Market Square along our way.
This is a loop hike, between close to 5 miles of smiles, and should take under 2 hours at a moderate pace. The surface is fairly level and paved throughout, except for brief stretches of pebbled paths in parks along the way.

How to get there: The park entrance is at the south end of South Royal Street in Old Town Alexandria. The street address is 100 Jones Point Drive, Alexandria, VA 22314.
