Nice event, specially the questions asked. Good to know that Nokia X allows other app stores! If your apps are in the 75% of AOSP compatible ones, Amazon appstore also works for you. :)

Great event last night. My take on NokiaX is that like other retail opportunities, don't limit your product to be sold on "the shelves of one shop". If you're on Google Play you should be on NoxiaX (And Amazon, etc). The big selling point is you are going to get great visibility by uploading to the NokiaX store now. In 6 months time that visibility may not be so great so don't think about it too long.

absolutely right! AOSP + 3rd party store is the way to go

Interesting discussion. However Riaz wasn't ready in regards of audience questions "Good question, I will find it for you..." was answer to 80% of questions, which is bad. I did like Maciej presentation where he pointed out pitfalls of porting app to Nokia

They should have raffled a few Nokia X's for business cards to create good will.

Submitted my personal app too, looking forward to the approval.
Looking forward to knowing more about porting bigger apps.

I manage to port an app without any problems, but when I try the emulator there are some small visual issues, is there any substancial difference between difference between the emulator and the real device?

    March 23, 2014

    • Riaz A.

Hi Xavi, not much difference really. Try the Nokia Remote Device Access service... http://developer.noki... for testing your app on a real Nokia X device!

Seems 3 of my apps pass the compatibility test, but I couldn't get the JNLP emulator running on my mac [masked]) which is a shame. Shall I put them on the store blind so I get the device *then* test them?

    1 · March 22, 2014

    • Paul T.

Runs fine on Ubuntu, Paul, so maybe start a vm on your Mac?

I've got my Win7 desktop to try as well

305 - The APK file contains an invalid certificate. It is either CN (common name) = Android Debug or the certificate expires before Oct 22, 2033.

This is the only issue I am having with mine on the store.

I submitted my Bee Maths game to the Nokia analyser and it went through without issue. Interesting to see how it runs on the real device, Adreno 203 GPU is the same class as the Adreno 200 in the Nexus One.

Liking your app Paul! You coming on Monday? I have a device for you if you get the app on the Nokia store. In the meantime, you can use http://developer.noki... to test your app on a real device remotely.

      March 22, 2014

    • Paul T.

Cheers Riaz! All seems fine on the remote device, just don't get an idea of frame rate over the network. Might gamble on a release, will see what time is available tomorrow. See you on Monday.
