What we're about

Bringing the London Android Community Together
Learn | Connect | Socialise

Londroid is the largest and longest-running Android Meetup in Europe, with a community network of thousands of Android enthusiasts.

We're about creating opportunities to learn, connect and socialise with the London and wider Android Community. Through in-person and online events, we discuss and demo Android platform possibilities. We partner with the most inspiring and influential developers and tech companies to share learnings and network.

Renowned for engineering excellence and promoting the best engineering culture around, we endeavour to serve the Android community by sharing knowledge to support career development and the evolution of the technology.

Talk 1: Plan your migrations

Topic: Android apps are in constant evolution and the Android dev community is thriving to find the best ways to develop them.
But what happens when you have an exciting app with barely maintainable - non scalable and non testable code?
We will talk you through our journey at DICE and how we have planned our migration from our old Java + RX-MVP monolith to fully Kotlin + Coroutine/Flow + MVVM + Data Domain Presentation layering + Feature modules split architecture.
From the buy-in of the leadership team to the final PR removing the remaining part of the old architecture - We will talk about the challenges we faced and what we've learned.

Speaker: Guillaume Mas from DICE (@GM4s_)

Talk 2: Custom Drawing in Compose with DrawScope by Rebecca Franks

Topic: Has your designer presented you with a beautiful design for a part of your app that you just don't know how to build? In this talk we will look at building custom UI components in Compose, learning all about the different Modifiers that can help you draw and animate UI components in Compose.

Speaker: Rebecca Franks from Google

About our hosts and sponsors

Who are Dice?
Since 2014, DICE has been reshaping the ticketing industry for fans, artists and venues – breaking down barriers that get in the way of a good time, and creating a fairer and more inclusive industry in the process. The B2C app is used by over six million fans worldwide, and allows users to see personalised event recommendations tailored to their music tastes, via Spotify and Apple Music integrations. They also provide a B2B end-to-end event management platform for musicians, artists and creators to run and manage their events in the app.

In September 2021, DICE raised $122m through Series C funding, and since then, the company has seen huge growth across key markets, including UK, Europe and North America.
