Speaker: Andrew Jack

Android Developer at Sky. Currently working on NowTV, he has previously worked on the Sky Store Android app. He has presented at Droidcon 2015 and runs the Android community at Sky.

Abstract: Sky delivers both linear and on demand video streams to millions of customers in the UK and Europe. The TV, movie, and sports content we deliver is valuable to us and the rights holders, so must be protected. I will show the history of Android video streaming at Sky, the protocols for video delivery, an overview of the Android media APIs, the players available and when they should be used, and the techniques for protecting the video content.

Speaker: Jesus Gumiel

Passionate Android developer and football lover. Ten years working in the dark side (big companies) in Spain and UK, trying to strenghten their Android community and to convince designers that not everyone uses an iPhone. I dedicate my spare time to code in my own startup, Footballtracker, and to attend startups and Android events worldwide.

Abstract: One of the most common errors when starting to develop wearable apps is to try to replicate the functionality of your handset on a wearable. It's important to keep in mind that wearable apps shoud be quite small in size and functionality. They are a complement for your phone and we must develop our apps keeping this premise. In this talk I'll explain the process followed to develop a wearable remote control for the NowTV box, covering some basic aspects of the communication between the phone and the wearable.
