Smart interconnected devices hackathon

We have a HOG ROAST!!! +veg
This hackathon is starting later and ending sooner than regular so that we can avoid the meals and have a weekend of sorts.

The London Android user group will be encouraging an exploration of ideas which will create our interconnected future. To achieve this we will also be inviting similar meetup groups to join us in our new creations.

Featuring: Android, General online APIs, Electricity providers, Arduino, Raspberry PI, tablets, TVs and all sorts of general home hardware.

For a first hackathon I think it was great. Managed to meet fellow hackers and the Developer community.

No structured project pitching / team forming let this event down for me, but the concept was good - I look forward to another in a similar vein.

It was my first meetup of the group. The developers were friendly and helpful. There was too much food, it was great though.

Good enthusiasm from those present but a few down on the number who said they'd go.

Hey, I'll also bring over some arduinos, ultrasonic sensors, a few other sensors too... A servo or two and maybe LEDs... Contemplating whether to also bring my RepRap machine (3d printing), we could go full on? Suggestions??

i will bring some arduinos, have an accelerometer and gyro and alcohol sensor as well if can be use, (did not experimented with them yet so probably it might not be a snap on). I was eyeing on gsm/wifi shields so it will be fantastic to see some of them in action

I can now confirm that we will bring some (3) Arduino UNO boards and GSM/GPRS shields for connectivity. Unfortunately we don't have any sensors or other gear to go along with the Arduinos. Probably obvious, but if you have Arduino add-ons, sensors, etc..., please bring them along.

I'm bringing some Arduino boards and have a couple of shields, so people who don't have hardware can use what I have.

    Thanks Kevin. 1pm definitely preferred!

Hi James, the hackathon will actually start a little later on the Saturday and give people an opportunity to have a lie in.

Hi. Can someone confirm the time this actually starts? The event is supposedly 8am on Saturday, the Introduction is at 13.30 and there are talks from 13.00. I'm assuming at least one of those times is wrong? Thanks.

Code I can but new hardware I've none ... well other than the laptop to code on. Can I participate & contribute? Any particular teams interested in developers (for just this event)?

And @Kevin any chance of getting hold of some hardware ... may not be to take home but to try out there alone?

HELP! I'm looking to get in touch with Arduino and Raspberry pie hackers. I'd like all the factions / groups to get together web, mobile & hardware. Please get in touch if you can help!

Usually people work in teams as you are much more likely to get something made! You can work alone but we'd encourage you into teams of 3 > 8

  • Paul B.

So you code alone? I was just wondering if people paired up or made plans to write multiple components for a bigger app.

The proceedings will just be the regular hackathon affair. Everyone and anyone are invited to turn up, we invite some companies to encourage you to use their products in your hacks, then everyone hacks away. The product you produce can be anything you like as long as it falls under the theme of 'Smart interconnected devices'. This could be an App, hardware or just a concept. Anything you like!

How does the coding work, is it just individuals writing apps, insider groups or names out of hats? How does it work :-D
