Thanks, Danielle, for sharing your views and concerns with us all. Certainly, there is a place for more positive outreach as well. A diversity of approaches is useful for getting through to different types of people.  We welcome your input.

As for petition-gathering opportunities outside of the Promenade, you can email me directly or to the meetup group list ([address removed]).  I also am coordinating signature gathering volunteers in the areas of Santa Monica, Venice, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu, which is a group that is somewhat separate from this meetup group, so I can also pass on the information to those people. Thanks for your help with the ballot initiative campaign!

With regard to the showing of graphic footage, I COMPLETELY understand your reasons, and I want the same results as you do. I would just really prefer to desensitize people in a more sensitive way, and the footage (which doesn't come with a warning to each passerby, or a choice as to whether or not they or their 3 years-olds would like to watch it) just doesn't sit well with me. It's like...I would encourage parents to take their kids to Animal Acres to show their young ones an environment in which animals thrive on love, etc., but not to a slaughterhouse which shows them how animals shouldn't be treated. I would encourage consenting adults, however, to visit slaughterhouses in order to be more conscientious consumers.

Yes!! I totally hear about tons of petition-gathering event opportunities outside of the promenade--some ahead of time, some the day of. Who can I email or call who can pass the info on to a bunch of people on their list serve? (you? Armaiti?)

Thanks Rick !!!!
