What we're about

Meet other local animal rights activists. Gather information about animal abuse issues and discuss constructive, non-violent ways to raise awareness in our society about the plight of animals raised for food, fur, experimentation, and other uses. Encourage people to adopt a whole foods vegan diet which is respectful to animals, the environment, and our own health. Teach youngsters in the community the importance of showing compassion and mercy to creatures who are not able to speak up for themselves. Seek opportunities to empower ourselves to be the best possible animal rights advocates.

*N.I.C.E.* Leafletting & Video Vegan Outreach on Third Street Promenade

3rd Street Promenade

Dear UAALA members: How can you make the most of your time for animal advocacy? Please join us in "Nicely Inspiring Compassion Everywhere." In just a couple of hours, you can expose HUNDREDS of people to factory farming's horrific impact on animals, the environment, and people! We add a high-tech boost to the classic advocacy techniques of tabling and leafleting by projecting hard-hitting videos like "Meet Your Meat" (http://www.meat.org/) and excerpts of "Earthlings" (http://www.earthlings.com/) onto a large screen right there on the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade, which has very high pedestrian traffic including tourists and shoppers. *PLEASE NOTE: This is a "Friendly Interactions Only" (http://socalveg.org/EventClassifications.html) event. Participants should ensure that all interactions are civil and friendly with everyone (including any hecklers) at the event. Over the years, this video outreach has converted numerous individuals to a more compassionate, pro-veg lifestyle. In fact, many people have stopped by to tell us that they went vegan after encountering our outreach! Plus, think of all the seeds of compassion that we've planted over the years in THOUSANDS of people. If you've never tried this impactful outreach event before, we recommend that you attend at least once and see if it's right for you. :-) You are welcome to attend the full duration of the outreach, or to just come for part of the time. We are usually between Broadway and Santa Monica Boulevards on the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade. If you have difficulty finding us (or want to check if the outreach is canceled due to rain), then call Aouie at[masked]. You don't need to bring your own literature (leaflets, etc.); there should be enough to last the evening. Please do not attend if you suspect that you are contagious with an illness. On behalf of the animals, thank you so much for your dedication!! :-) *For more information on the "Friendly Interactions Only" policy, you can visit: [ http://SoCalVeg.org/EventClassifications.html ] Disclaimers: Unless stated otherwise, organizers and participants do not assume any related legal obligations, responsibilities or liabilities, but are expected to behave in a civil and orderly manner, and adhere to any event policies. Participation is at their own risk. Indoor activities, outdoor activities, in-person social interactions and sharing foods have some associated risks, including injuries, allergies, transmissible illnesses, and food poisoning.
