What we're about

Meet other local animal rights activists. Gather information about animal abuse issues and discuss constructive, non-violent ways to raise awareness in our society about the plight of animals raised for food, fur, experimentation, and other uses. Encourage people to adopt a whole foods vegan diet which is respectful to animals, the environment, and our own health. Teach youngsters in the community the importance of showing compassion and mercy to creatures who are not able to speak up for themselves. Seek opportunities to empower ourselves to be the best possible animal rights advocates.

Parking is also available in the parking structure for The Grove, adjacent to the Farmers Market (1 hour free parking without validation, or 2 hours free parking with validation from a vendor at The Grove, not the Farmers Market). ----- "The Sanctuary at Soledad Goats was founded by Carol and Julian Pearce, award winning goat cheese makers who, in 2015, decided to give it all up and go vegan. It wasn’t a decision that was made overnight. Since the day they met while saving sick calves, to their life in England where Carol was known to kidnap another farmer’s animals to save them from slaughter, to their own Southern California goat farm with a strict no kill policy, it has always been about the animals. They’ve been rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected goats, cows, horses, pigs, chickens, ducks and dogs for years, saving many from being euthanized. Now those rescued animals live side by side with former dairy goats as they all live out their happy lives. The Sanctuary at Soledad Goats is a 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue organization funded by donations from supporters like you. Leafletting & Video Vegan Outreach on Third Street Promenade

3rd Street Promenade

Dear UAALA members: How can you make the most of your time for animal advocacy? In just 1-2 hours, you can expose HUNDREDS of people to factory farming's horrific impact on animals, the environment, and people! We add a high-tech boost to the classic advocacy techniques of tabling and leafleting by projecting hard-hitting videos like "Meet Your Meat" (http://www.meat.org/) and excerpts of "Earthlings" (http://www.earthlings.com/) onto a large screen right there on the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade, which has very high pedestrian traffic including tourists and shoppers. PLEASE NOTE: This is a "Friendly Interactions Only" (http://socalveg.org/EventClassifications.html)* event. Participants should ensure that all interactions are civil and friendly with everyone (including any hecklers) at the event. Over the years, this video outreach has converted numerous individuals to a more compassionate, pro-veg lifestyle. In fact, many people have stopped by to tell us that they went vegan after encountering our outreach! Plus, think of all the seeds of compassion that we've planted over the years in THOUSANDS of people. If you've never tried this impactful outreach event before, we recommend that you attend at least once and see if it's right for you. :-) The next-to-the-next opportunity for vegan outreach leafleting/tabling with simultaneous video projection on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica will be Saturday, Mar. 23rd. We will start at >>8pm<< and go until 10pm. You are welcome to attend the full 2 hours, or to just come for part of the time. We are usually between Broadway and Santa Monica Boulevards on the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade. If you have difficulty finding us (or want to check if the outreach is canceled due to rain), then call Aouie at[masked]. You don't need to bring your own literature (leaflets, etc.); there should be enough to last the evening. On behalf of the animals, thank you so much for your dedication!! :-) *For more information on the "Friendly Interactions Only" policy, you can visit: [ http://SoCalVeg.org/EventClassifications.html ] For the animals, Zoe Assistant Meetup Organizer
