Personal response from Dawn Montcrief on " animal gifting"

ONE project has a gift goat program tied in with Heifer International.  I wrote to ONE about their misguided initiative; evidently a number of us wrote to the vegan food aid organization  A Well Fed World, telling Dawn we hoped she could get the ONE people to cease and desist.  This was her personal response.

"I agree... it's awful that they've joined it. And it makes no sense especially because the funding goes to HI. It's not like it even goes to ONE. Oxfam has also picked up animal gifting. One of our advisors called a friend of his there, who denied it because he knew it was bad. Obviously, it's true though. Very sad. :-("

AWFW is great.  I regret sending a donation to Oxfam for the Philippines; I didn't know that AWFW had a presence there, and heard Oxfam did.  Next time I'll check with Dawn's organization first.  I think they worked on the island through Food Not Bombs (also vegan).
