Hello everybody!

As usual, there is a lot of stuff going on in the animal welfare world, even here in Maine. Below you'll find some upcoming events that you may want to learn more about and even attend. As always, if there is something happening in your neck of the woods, please let me know, or if you'd like to plan something, give me a shout.

Thank you all for all that you do for the animals.
Katie

P.S.....Summer is a great time to get Letters to the Editor printed. A great topic is the issue of leaving animals in parked cars....if you need any assistance, just let me know.

Future Meet-Ups- I'm working on scheduling a meet up at Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick for Thursday, June 26th to discuss personal planning for pets and your family in the event of a disaster.

I'm also working on a July meet-up in Freeport....Would people in the Portland area travel to Freeport to attend? Please let me know.

For August, I'm hoping to do some meet-ups in Washington County and Aroostook County. If you have friends or family up in those areas who love animals too, please forward this email on to them :)

MAC's VegFest- On Saturday June 21st, visit the University of Southern Maine in Portland from 11am to 4pm for the Maine Animal Coalition's 4th annual Vegetarian Food Festival. Fun times, great vegan food, lots of exhibitors, raffle items, free goodies, all kinds of stuff to make for a great cruelty-free summer day! Visit http://www.maineanimalcoalition.org/ for more information!

Memorial Service for Bandit- While Bandit's killer has pled guilty and been sentenced to parole and restitution, it is time for all the people who have supported the full prosecution of this case to remember and memorialize this sweet little dog, his loving parent and to send Bandit along with thoughts of love and remembrance. There will be a momorial service for Bandit at the Kennebunk Dog Park on Sea Road in Kennebunk on Sunday, June 8th at noon time.

Take Your Dog to Work Day- Planet Dog is again sponsoring Take Your Dog to Work Day in Portland on Friday, June 20th. There will be a dog parade in the Old Port and then join us in Tommy's Park from 11:30 to 2:30 for fun and festivities. There will be exhibitors, exhibitions, and plenty of canine fun! Stay tuned because there will also be a Big Announcement to help animals in our state coming soon!

Taking Action for Animals- Looking for an exciting and energizing way to kick your animal advocacy up a notch? Why not consider joining hundreds of over like-minded activists for a weekend training full of relevant, hot tips for making the biggest impact for animals? The weekend also includes a lobby day on Capitol Hill with Main's Senators and Representatives. For more information, please check out: http://www.takingactionforanimals.com/

Federal Action Alert- Help keeps bears safe from poachers...Visit our Action Alert page and send a note to Maine Representatives Allen and Michaud, asking them to co-sponsor this important bill!
