The Ann Arbor Kings Dungeons & Dragons Meetup

  • Sep 8, 2012 · 3:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We will be meeting at my house in September because of the Wolverine Home games and difficulty scheduling Get Your Game On. Same time as usual.

We will have three GM's. One is running a White Wolf campaign and the other a Pathfinder 3rd level game. Both have pre-gens. There is no requirement to have played in either system. This is a chance to try something new. Players new to RPG's are welcome.

Around 5:30 we will order pizza from Jets. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks.

The teen group will also be playing, if there is a teen new to the group who would like to join, contact Jim.

We are still looking for a larger place to meet. Get Your Game On, is a great location, but the basement can only hold 2 groups and we really need space for 3. Any facility would need to hold 20 plus people and be available almost every month. We could collect a couple bucks from players to offset the cost of a small room rental. Once again, let me know if you have ideas.

Roll a 20,

Dennis

We switched this month's game to 9/15, didn't we? I can't remember where it's being held at, either.

I've looked at Moose membership, but I fear it's not for me. Let me think on this, I may be able to come up with some ideas.

The main problem with all the gaming stores is that they need to cater to the card tournaments. This is where there money is at to stay open. Saturday is prime time so it is often challenging to book a store that has 3 tables.

I am looking for someone who is a member of the "Order of Moose Lodge". They have a facility by me that would be perfect for gaming. I would prefer to approach them with someone who is a member. It seems to me that gamers are the perfect replacement for their aging members. It would shift the kinds of activities they would sponsor, but could generate the support they need to stay together as an organization.

If you are a member please let me know, so we can talk.

    Roll a 20,

I'm not sure if you guys have tried Fun4All. It's in ypsi, near my gym. I stopped in and it looked to have a bit more table space, and no concrete walls, but the tables are set up like a standard gaming store in the middle of the retail. So I'm not sure what they would feel about a congregation of loud gamers in their show room, smelling up the place as we're ought to do. :p

    continued.....

We found that Get Your game One is best with two groups but there is room for three. It is just really loud with the cement walls.
We are looking for a bigger location and would be willing to pay a small fee if necessary. So, if anyone has any ideas let us know and we will set up a donation cup to cover our costs if need be.
We hope to see you at the next meetup. If you come with materials to GM and it doesn't work out stick around as a player. The whole purpose is to meet people and have fun.
Also, ANY game system is welcome. It is also a good idea to bring board games so if no GM's show up there are still games to play.
For those who were there last month we are sorry that no GM's showed up. We have been running this event for several years and that is the first time that has happened so don't be discouraged. Summertime is usually more difficult as many people take vacations. Last month Dennis and I were both out of town so we could not be there.

This is great news. We do need GM's to run games.

For those who are new to these meetups you should know that every meetup is a like rolling the dice. We never know who will show up so we don't commit to anything more than having enough material to run a one shot for six hours or so.
The purpose for this meetup has always been to host one shot games so people can meet for the purpose of forming campaign groups outside of this event.
The exception is the kids game. This is an ongoing campaign. We want the kids to experience the full flavor of RPG's so they can build a character and experience a game world in it's fullest.
If you want to run a game come prepared with some pre-gen characters. We like to keeps the players to eight or less. Less being better. The more GM's the less players the better the gaming experience.
Our current gaming location is an issue. We used to meet in a place where there could be four simultaneous games going. It was loud but doable.

My wife would be willing to run some one-offs occasionally (and maybe more). She's wondering if there would be interest in a White Wolf adventure (specifically Werewolf), or if another system would be better.

I've been working on a campaign world for a little while and have a long term game ready to go that I'm really excited about. I am willing to DM. I was at the last meetup that had failed and could have taken the initiative to DM but was a little shy.
I'm new to the group, but a very experienced DM. I posted a message on the board but got no replies. I'd prefer to keep any group to about 4-5 members. I'd offer my place for a meeting location, but can only fit 7-8 people max, and I assume you're not interested in having one-off locations. I live in Ypsi.
