RASC Vancouver's very own "Mr. Stargazer", Bill Burnyeat, will give us a tour of some celestial treasures of summer skies, and will also look ahead to astronomical treats of autumn. If you have a star wheel, be sure to bring it with you! Bill, who runs the BCIT planetarium, and is also currently serving as Education Chair for the RASC Vancouver, has been introducing the night sky to the public for decades including on summer-long tours of public dark sky sites throughout British Columbia.
There will also be a free door prize : a beginner's telescope donated by Canadian Telescopes! Any audience member who is of grade-school age (17 years or under) is eligible!
This is the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada - Vancouver monthly meeting and is shared with the general public at no charge.
We meet at 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, downstairs in the auditorium of the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.
Astro-juice, cookies, and coffee will be served at the Southam Observatory after the meeting.
