Professionally, there are few things more intimidating than starting a new language. The structure is different, the keywords are different, and the process is different. Overall, this tends to add up to annoyance and frustration from mistakes that can quickly be fixed. This presentation will give you an overview of the environment and get you up to speed on a few common tasks.. so you can spend your time making more creative mistakes. Keith will demonstrate using Flex for the front-end and PHP for the backend web services of the application.

SCHWAG ALERT! Keith will be bringing schwag from Adobe, and other random places for giveaways. He has a ton of things to give out and is splitting it up between Baltimore PHP and DCPHP before he begins his trek to Austin.

RSVP to Functional Flex and PHP in Fifty with Keith Casey

Keith Casey has been a PHP developer for about six years and a professional agitator within the local Washington, DC tech community for a few years longer. To pay the bills, he works as the CTO of Blue Parabola, LLC on large-scale PHP-based systems for organizations ranging from major news media companies to small non-profits. In his spare time, he is a core contributor to web2project, works to build and support the DCPHP community, blogs regularly on technology issues at http://CaseySoftware.com/blog and is completely fascinated by monkeys.

The meeting starts at 6:30. Keith's presentation will start around 7:00. 6:30 - 7:00 is reserved for chit chat, socializing, and pizza destroying.

We are meeting in our normal location, at our normal time. Pizza and soda are provided by OmniTI (Thank you!). Come hungry with your PHP hats on. Bring a friend that's interested in PHP or someone looking to learn about testing their web applications. The more the merrier.

As usual, we?ll continue our tradition and conversation at PubDog in Columbia for a few drinks afterwards.
