Christmas morn, Cave Hill (Free public walk)

Details
We're meeting at Belfast Castle for a festive walk up Cave Hill on Christmas morning.
This is a free public walk so forward this on to friends and relatives.
We'll walk through the woods and ascend up over the hill and across to the top of ancient McArt's Fort. Once there, we might even have a go at singing a couple of Christmas songs to get into the mood.
Then we'll come back down, along the Devil's Punchbowl, past the first cave to return to Belfast Castle car park for about 12.30pm.
This walk suits adults of any age with average fitness. Bring a light snack you can eat whilst walking like a cereal bar, apple or bag of crisps, and bring some water.
Wear warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy walking boots.
You won't be able to go on this walk wearing trainers or other footwear that has no grip or ankle support.
Walk includes some steep sections but the pace is leisurely.
Dogs are allowed on this walk with a lead.
The McArt's Fort walk is open to children, but won't be suitable for kids under 8.
(There will be the opportunity to undertake a shorter walk to the first cave. You can leave the walk here to return back down the same straightforward route, but without a guide.)
Neither walk routes are open to children under 3. All children must be accompanied on the walks by an adult.
Directions to Belfast castle are included on this page.
