Our 23rd meetup will be a presentation style meetup in Ghent (details of the location will be communicated asap)
Following presentations have been confirmed:
- Introduction to the Brussels Datascience Meetup group by Philippe Van Impe (30 min)
Philippe will introduce what data science is all about, the projects they are working on (with possible links to big data), their link to the non-profit http://www.datakind.org organization (data for good) and how both groups could collaborate.

- Introduction to ElasticSearch by Eric Rodriguez (45 min)
Are you looking for a scalable search engine? Do you want to index your data on Hadoop? Do you need a stack able to index, analyze and visualize your data? ElasticSearch could meet your requirements.
Eric will introduce you to ElasticSearch.
- Election Bingo by Stijn Beauprez (30 min)
The vk14-bingo.be (http://vk14-bingo.be/) application can be used for making up your mind for voting on sunday, it gives you insight into the topics our political parties are talking about.
Stijn Beauprez will demo the application and explain how and with which technologies it has been implemented.
- De verkiezingen by Philippe Kerremans (5 min)
Deverkiezingen.be website is another application of using social media to get insight into the mother of all elections. Philippe will explain how they used ElasticSearch and D3.js among other technologies.
No Food will be provided at the location.

We are still looking for additional speakers for following meetups. If you are a student, PhD, post-doc, teacher, professor or professional, working on a research project related to big data, ask for a time slot to start a discussion or simply tell about your experiences.
