Agenda:

18:30-19:00 - Gathering and refreshments
19:00-20:15 - Distribution and human progress: the case for a distributed social network (Dor Konforty)
20:15-21:30 - Free discussion

Advances in information and communication technologies are found at the root of all major social changes. As technology expands the degrees of freedom available to individuals, they begin interacting in ways that challenge the existing order, ultimately leading to its substitution.

We’ll (quickly) review a few of the major technological shifts throughout history, explore what lies at the basis of their ability to make a lasting impact on the social order, and discuss how a fully decentralized and distributed social network may further change the way we interact and organize.

The technology underlying the Synereo social network will be presented (in a non-too-technical manner) along with its attention economy-based network dynamics model. Warning: there may or may not be parallels to how the brain works.

The talk will be given in Hebrew.

We would like to start the lecture at 19:00 sharp, so please make an effort to arrive on time, taking traffic into account. From 18:30 you'll have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and socialize.

As always, the talk will be recorded for those of us who can't attend.

Parking is recommended at the nearby Azrieli Center (7 minutes walk, about 12 NIS for the entire night).
