About our group:
We love the blues: listening, playing and promoting the only original form of American music. As Johny Meister reminds us when he does his incredible blues radio show every Saturday night on XPN.org (or 88.5 on the FM dial), rock, pop, country, jazz and R&B are just branches of a tree whose roots are buried deep in the mud of the Mississippi Delta.
I am not a musician but a huge fan. I love hearing blues in the enviorment it is best enjoyed : live, with the auditorium seats, lawn chairs or bar stools filled with people who understand it, appreciate it and love it for the way it hits your heart, mind and soul. As someone once said in relating the power of the music "In 12 bars and three cords, time and time again, the music takes me into some place beyond time, a place where all I am left with is this thrilling, estatic moment of the music reaching me unlike any other music can. I often find myself wanting to lean into it, unable to stop myself from moving along to it or to tap my foot or clap my hands, allowing it to wash over me, to get inside me, never wanting it to stop or to have to leave. At times, I am wrung out in music so intense my soul is sweating and I feel transported into some timeless force of nature."
Our goal will be to have at least one meetup event monthly but we have been running two events minimum the past year. If there is interest I can schedule meetups- just email me.
This is a group for real Blues fans to meet real Blues Fans and not a dating group. If you want a dating group there are several I can refer you to. I also ask that you do not email members directly that you have never met. We want everyone to feel safe and to be able to enjoy our events.
If you do join our group we look forward to meeting you at an event soon. Please come out and thanks for helping to keep the Blues alive!
