October: Business Skills for Freelance Creatives

Details
This month, we have Xiao'an Li of Li & Ortega coming in to talk to us!
As creatives, business is often what we consider to be the dreariest part of developing our careers. This is often because "business" is perceived as monolithic and difficult, instead of what it truly is - a holistic combination of small tasks executed thoughtfully. When we break it down to the simple and often very human elements, business development becomes less intimidating, and perhaps even fun, if one dares to dream. This talk covers some of the basic soft-skills every entrepreneurial creative should know.
About Xiao'an:
Despite a dubious genesis as a rock band frontman, Xiao'an has created music for King, Wooga, Hasbro, Playstudios, Mobilityware, Earplay, American Greetings, and more. He owns and run East Coast Scoring, an orchestra recording and production company in Boston, and bamboozled his way into a partnership at Li & Ortega (www.liortega.com (http://www.liortega.com/)), where he spends his time attempting to convince developers that the millenia-old art of music may be useful in forging positive brand association and retention.
