Join us for part II in our series on the CakePHP framework. Join Chris Baril (http://chrisbaril.com...) and Jesse Kochis (http://jkochis.com/...) as they give you a more in-depth advanced view of CakePHP.
The main focus of this meetup will be creating, installing and using packaged application plugins in CakePHP applications.
Plugins are a combination of controllers, models, and views. The main tie between a plugin and the application it has been installed into, is the application's configuration (database connection, etc.). Otherwise, it operates in its own little space, behaving much like it would if it were an application on its own. More info = http://book.cakephp.o...
We will intentionally NOT cover:
- behaviours
- datasources
- components
- helpers

Boston PHP is the largest and most active PHP community in the world.
We are a lot more than PHP!
We have been meeting since 2002. We have over 2,500 members, and usually meet every month on a Wednesday. We have a wide range of topics all related to PHP, Web Development, and Open Source technology.
All meetings are free, and we encourage everyone to participate and get involved and help grow the PHP community. After each meeting we typically go to a nearby restaurant/bar/pub for more informal discussion.
Check out our newsletter! We video all of our meetups. To access our videos, just follow this link.

Topics we cover:
We base all our meetings from attendee suggestions. If you have an idea for a topic that you would like to see (or present), please use our ideas section.
Calling all presenters:
Please visit our ideas section of the meetup site to see the sort of events we are hoping to have in 2011. We want to have a mix of events from beginner and advanced topics. We are looking for presenters for each of these topics. If you (or someone you know) are experienced in a topic and have some presentation skills - then please let us know. We are also looking for volunteers to help us with planning, logistics, and other odd jobs.

I misspoke at the part about UUIDs. It's char(36) not char(32). http://book.cakephp.org/view/70/Using-UUIDs-as-Primary-Ke...
