Developer Dorm Room
Details
Do you have projects you've been dying to work on, but you're not sure how to get started?
Are you looking for a way to get away from the distractions of home life so you can focus on development?
Do you work better in a collaborative environment where you can bounce ideas off another developer?
Boston PHP Developer Dorm Room is back!
http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/7/f/5/event_43499381.jpeg
We will provide a wifi-enabled room (http://nerd.bostonphp.org) for nine hours where developers like you can come together to accomplish one of the following:
• work on your own idea
• get some help from someone more experienced in a certain topic
• mentor others
• contribute to an open-source project
• come up with a new group project.
Experience the synergy created when like-minded energetic individuals come together to make things happen. We will also provide a space for small spontaneous presentations and learning sessions.
Want to show off your new site or work on your pitch in front of a small group? Or maybe you would like to give a brief 15-30 minute crash course on a specific topic.
This will be a casual, come-and-go-as-you-please event with no schedule or predefined agenda. The primary focus is to bring developers together and let them do what they do best. The details are all up to you!
FREE DRUPAL (http://drupal.org) TRAINING PROVIDED BY OWNSOURCING (http://ownsourcing.com/) - 10AM
Kay VanValkenburgh and Leslie Glynn from Ownsourcing (http://ownsourcing.com/) have graciously offered to provide a 3-hour "Drupal Immersion" for any interested attendees. Participants will be guided through the process of creating a fully functional Drupal web site, exploring essential Drupal modules (like Views and Pathauto), learning important concepts (such as what nodes are, how to use taxonomy) and tweaking the look and feel of the site with CSS and other tools. This training is self-paced using buildamodule.com (http://buildamodule.com/) videos and Drupal mentors. This training has been presented around the world, from DrupalCon (http://drupalcon.org) 2012 in Denver to LA, San Francisco, Melbourne Australia and Edinburgh UK, and always gets a fantastic response.
OwnSourcing is a Boston-based Drupal training shop. Visit their site at ownsourcing.com (http://ownsourcing.com/) and follow @ownsourcing (https://twitter.com/ownsourcing) on Twitter.
