Agile SCRUM Workshop

Carrying over from our previous meetup "An Agile/SCRUM Workshop", this event would dig deeper, and get hands-on for a more in-depth view as to how to apply Agile and SCRUM to your projects.

Through exercises, you will gain insight into the following topics:

  • User stories
  • Planning iterations
  • Velocity
  • Work breakdown and task creation
  • Stakeholder involvement
  • Various Tips and Best practices

This event is a hands-on workshop where people sit at round tables. Exercises and workshops for teams and a lot of group participation.

Note: Prepare to engage with others and have a lot of fun!

The workshop was very good and participation was excellent. A follow up session on metrics and tracking will be really useful for real world projects.

The Agile workshop was right on target; excellent content, fast paced, good exercise, informative reflection. Looking forward to more depth on areas skipped.

If you enjoyed the session last night or/and interested in the next one, please RSVP. It would be very helpful for meetup organizers.

We were late to arrive (7:10pm), but overall, the event seemed well. It would have been nice to have a bit more time overall for things, since it seemed rushed at the end.

I thought the presenter was a dynamic speaker and passionate about his subject. I thought the presentation had more potential than was able to be explored in the time available. In no way can I see that the presentation would have worked in the time allotted. For someone like me, a contractor who needed to leave my contract early to get into Cambridge on time, it would have been nice to know that the first half hour is for socializing and that 6:30 to 8:30 really meant 7:10 to 9:10. Kind of a truth in advertising thing. :) There is no judgement in having the socializing time, but knowing there was leeway in arriving, so that I would not walk late into a presentation, would have been very helpful. I do think it was an interesting experience and I am more and more drawn to the Agile mindset after many years in the "it takes forever to get anything done" workspace. So thanks for the event.

5-star topic and presentation. 4-star rating due to the time constraints we ran into.

Great technique of getting key principles across. Great interactive exercise; plenty of people were confused - maybe more debrief time would have been useful. I was telling my teammates that the tools and work product is the real objective.

Excellent content, though we were tight for time. We had a lot to cover.

Great group, presenter and topic! Very relevant and pragmatic workshop. Looking forward to more!

What a great, dynamic presenter. I had a blast, and feel more confident in my understanding of Scrum.

A little tight on time. The game was fun, but I felt we did not learn much about Agile within our team - it was little bit of 'the blind leading the blind', so we spent more time on building our tower than trying to come up with stories and a backlog, which we didn't really understand

@dross I would wholeheartedly be in attendance at your proposed Agile/Scrum Tracking Workshop. Please make it so!

I agree! The slides that were skipped looked especially interesting. I would definitely appreciate a follow up to go into those areas in more detail.

Interesting workshop. Is it possible to give some insight to software quality assurance/testing team and Agile/Scrum, in the next one.

Great presentation! If we had started the workshop and exercise 6.30 and postpone the food and drinks until after that would have been great!

A definite yes to another workshop. A repeat of this workshop will also be very helpful. Strongly suggest starting early so that we do not run into time issue.
Again thank your for sharing and coaching us.

I know there is plenty of interest from me and my organization in another workshop. There would be 10+ people attending from my side if there is one in the future. Thank you very much for putting on these types of events.

@Moira, thank you for your feedback. I would like to do another workshop on Agile/Scrum Tracking to demonstrate how to use story points, task hours, burn-down charts, etc. I wonder if that would be of interest to the group.

Then I guess the Sprint of the class was well scoped. LOL I would really have like to cover the user stories part that got skipped due to lack of time. The other stuff I have already heard several times before. :\

Is there sufficient interested in applying SCRUM specifically to ERP Implementations (e.g Oracle E-Business Suite) at this workshop? Discussion around how to apply SCRUM and an alternative or combination with existing methodologies e.g. Oracle AIM and Oracle Unified Method (OUM)

    Some Initial References:

So many people throw around "Agile" and "SCRUM" like they're meaningless buzzwords -- thanks for organizing this event to clear things up! Super important for the community to do this.
