Job Opportunities at MTV Networks

Hey guys

Some of you might remember me from past meetups.
I can't make that many of them, sorry to say, but I do enjoy hearing how people are approaching problems, etc.  Anyway, into the meat...

I'm the Senior Architect for the Entertainment division at MTV Networks (a Viacom company (tm))  We provide technical services (typically websites) for the business.  Our sites include brand properties,, and; verticals like,,,; and finally blogs like,  In aggregate we command close to if not exceeding 100 million page views a day and HTML bandwidths in the gigabits.

We're looking for a couple of talented peeps who have a strong liking to the front end aspects of web site implementations.  I could say, HTML, CSS, JS / HTML5 but it's more than this.  We want people who have a reasonable to strong PHP background and a strong front end skill set that can both work within an existing framework and know how to quickly get something up and running from scratch if need be.  We are not limited to making just web pages for desktops/laptops as our current focus is to move mobile/tablet/tv/console development in-house.  Therefore if you have experience with such systems that is a great plus.

We have an internal framework (ever improving) built on top of PHP 5.3 that is both MVC and SOA (yes, these things can coexist) - we typically use Smarty to render out HTML and JQuery to do many of the DOM manipulations.  We do not manage the CMS, Databases, Design, Creative, Production, Servers, etc.  There are separate groups for that, we simply make web sites/apps.  We have three major groups within the entertainment division: one in the NYC, one in Santa Monica, California (LA), and an off shore group in Minsk, Belarus.  We also do Agile development, so expect scrums, sprints, and the like.  Workload is a blend of new site launches/relaunches, new features/events (like E3 for, adsales-driven features (Captain Morgan sponsors a bracket challenge on and of course site support (fixing things)

So if you have the skills, drive and are open to moving to NYC, then perhaps you should consider this opportunity.  The official job posting is here:
