MEETS - Marymoor, Thursday Edition (Moderate)

Midweek Eastside Evening Training Series – The MEETS rides will be held Thursday evenings at 5:45 pm each week. These will be after dark training routes that incorporate local hills, and are between 20-25 miles with ~ 1000 to 1700 feet of elevation. There will be a single pace offered through the winter – Moderate (14-16 mph on flats).
***PLEASE NOTE THAT A GOOD HEAD AND TAIL LIGHT ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS RIDE. IF IT IS RAINING, FENDERS ARE APPRECIATED BY YOUR FELLOW RIDERS. Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace, read a cue sheet, change a flat (and have the requisite equipment), and have a positive attitude! Faster riders and better climbers are welcome to join but for them the ride becomes self-paced and self-guided.
Steady rain, ice or snow will cancel this ride.

Draft route for this week is: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4293026

Ride leaders are: Kimberly Smith and Sandi Navarro

I got new wheels yesterday, and when I showed up for the ride today, the back tire was at about 40 lbs of pressure and the front 80. I pumped them both up to 100 at the start of the ride. When I was unloading my bike tonight, I noticed that the back tire was soft again. I checked it and it was back down to 40 lbs. No wonder it felt like I was pedaling through quick sand! For those of you more mechanically inclined - should I just try to change the tire, or go back to the bike shop? Could it be a valve issue?

Did the new wheels come with new tires and tubes? Are they tubeless? A good old-school dunk in a water bath will find where the air is escaping the assembly, although this is not always where the actual puncture is, assuming it is a tube and tire assembly.

Thanks everyone, I will head back to the shop. I did not get a new wheel set, only the tires, same tubes put into the new tires. May be operator error in changing the back tire, but I figured the shop owner knew what he was doing. I guess it can happen to anyone.

I had 1396' on Garmin Connect and 1779' on RWGPS...quite a disparity. The route didn't feel that hilly, but I was glad Rodrigo was there to tell us where to go. Note to self: Next time, bring a cue sheet AND make sure Joni made the turn!!!

My garmin showed about 1500. Funny how we all differ. On Strava, Rodrigo, Rick and I all have different elevation with the mileage almost exactly the same.

I was caught in traffic and arrived 5:55 and saw the group leaving. Ended up doing my own ride of ~40 miles on a different route. Great weather.

I took some of the hills out of the route to make it a bit more manageable. I think you will like this version better. Have a look.

Yes, the above url is the new (changed) route. Took off over 200' and almost 1/2 mile.
