Friday Night Fun Ride (moderate pace, 14-16 mph)

Details
Come join us for a social ride around North Seattle to celebrate the end of the week and the start of the weekend. If you have been on steady pace rides (12-14 mph on flats) and want to try riding moderate pace I am willing to lead the ride as a low moderate to help riders acclimate to a slightly faster pace.
I will be at the east end of the parking lot of Gas Works Park for the pre ride talk. Parking is available until 10 PM but riding your bike to the start is encouraged. We'll be riding on a mix of arterials with and without bike lanes, residential streets, and multi use paths. I will be encouraging (and coaching as necessary) safe urban riding on this ride. We begin riding pretty close to sunset and largely in night time hours, adequate lights to see and be seen are a requirement for this ride. That means at least one solid white light on the front and a rear red light as we want to be street legal and safe. We'll ride for an hour and a half to two hours and end where we started. The ride will be followed with an optional social gathering at a local establishment nearby, bring a lock to secure your bike if you want to join us post ride.
This will be a stay together ride with regroups as necessary when separated by traffic and hill climbs but we generally don't wait for mechanical failures. Please be capable of fixing your own flats and other minor mechanical failures. Having a cell phone and an Orca Card is a good back up plan.
