Shortest Day Populaire

Details
Cascade rides with the Seattle Randoneurs on the Shortest Day 106k Populaire We start at Starbucks on Bear Creek Pkwy in Redmond. We will head out at 10:00 via 133rd St to the Snoqualmie Valley through Monroe and on to Snohomish where there’s an opportunity to warm up again at the Snohomish Bakery.
After making our way to south Everett we’ll turn around and head back to Redmond. Our final control (ride end) will be at Malt and Vine where we can celebrate the last Populaire of 2014 with a beer, cider or a glass of wine!
Randonneurs ride self-supported at their own pace; the organizers will collect signatures on waivers, hand out cue sheets and wish you a happy ride. Some riders will be faster, some will be slower. You will see one of the organizers at the start and at the end of the ride, otherwise you are on your own.
Keep in mind that this is a self-supported ride and although it starts promptly at 10 am, being the shortest day of the year, there is a chance you will need lights. This year we will do a bike safety check. You must have adequate lighting and reflective gear or you will not be issued a brevet card. That bit of reflective trim on your seat bag isn’t enough. Please bring extra clothes, food, spares, and back-up lights.
The ride will be cancelled if there is substantial danger of ice, otherwise, rain or snow, we ride.
