Log Boom Park-Monroe Lewis Street Park Loop

Details

Ride one of the most scenic routes in the Puget Sound area. The route is a balanced mix of flat and some hilly terrain on excellent pavement.
Plan to arrive at Log Boom Park by 9:45 AM so that you can make your ride preparations, and we can complete the mandatory CBC safety briefing, and sign the liability wavier, which will allow us to begin riding at 10:00 AM. We will begin riding on the Burk Gillman Trail at the low end of brisk (16 mph), and as we warm up our average speed will increase to high brisk (18 mph). We will go up hills at our own individual pace and regroup at the top.

Pace: on flat terrain will be brisk (16-18 mph)

Distance: 48.2 miles

Elevation gain: 2,105 feet

What to wear: the weather is forecast to be cool, but of course we will generate heat as we ride so it depends upon individual preferences, but I plan to wear tights, a long sleeve jersey, and a light, vented, breathable jacket and full fingered gloves. Of course Cascade Bike Club rides require riders to wear a good fitting, bicycle helmet, and not use ear phones, or ear buds so that riders can hear warnings and approaching vehicles. I recommend using a side mirror so that you can see behind you.

Be prepared to fix your own flats and make your own adjustments. Bring one bottle of water. Bathrooms are available at Log Boom Park and Lewis Street Park. Bring your ID and some money. The group may decide to have a break in Monroe for coffee and a snack.

Cue sheet and map can be printed out using the free ridewithgps link below. And click on print cue sheet/map from browser.

Steady rain cancels the ride and the ride leader will not be at the start of the ride.
