Details

Saturday Morning Rides in Snohomish County: Come and check out the the beauty of Snohomish County this fall; we will cover pretty much every corner! Routes start around 35 miles at the beginning of each month and increase to about 50-55 miles at the end of each month. The elevation averages 50ft/mile.

Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10149390

Note: The route is checked and it'll be a lot of fun. However, it's a bit remote, so be prepared for 27 miles of pedaling before finding a restroom/food.

Cue-sheets are not provided; please print your copy.

After possibly being slightly more sedentary than usual over the holiday, your legs will have a wonderful time on this route. The route starts at a very familiar stop on the Centennial Trail. We will head east into beautiful rural Snohomish County. Just a few turns and we will be in Granite Falls. As its name states and its history has proven, this town is (still) home to many large quarry operations employing a large number of people. We will turn at the stop sign in the center of town to continue our rural tour to Arlington were we will have a well deserved rest stop. The route will head south and pass neighborhoods in Arlington and Marysville, then skirt the edge of Lake Stevens to return to the start.

Stats: 52.2 miles, 2333ft elevation

Rest stop: MP 27.6 Safeway/Starbucks

Paces and Ride Leaders:

Steady (12-14 mi/h) with Larry DeBardi and Melanie Kelsey

Moderate (14-16 mi/h) with Michael Silverstein and Mike Upstall

Brisk (16-18 mi/h) with Chuck Schultz and Daniel Kelly

Expectations (important, please read!): Arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the waiver and be part of the safety briefing. S.M.A.R.T. riding is the standard and all riders are held accountable for doing their best to adhere to these; we want to be awesome representatives of the bike community in Snohomish County and be safe! Front and rear lights are highly recommended! Riders should be able to maintain the posted pace. We regroup occasionally. Riders have to be independent when they have a flat and/or mechanical. Please print a cue sheet in case you get separated from the group and bring a charged cellphone if possible. All riders are responsible to promote a great experience by having a positive attitude, having fenders when the roads are wet or rain is in the forecast, enjoying the beauty we are surrounded by and just by having fun! Steady rain/snow or unsafe conditions cancels the ride. If the ride is canceled, it will be posted by 7:00 am in the comment section. In that case the ride leaders will not be at the start.

Ride director: Larry DeBardi.
