Enjoy the challenge of riding up and down hills? Enjoy epic waterfront views? This ride covers over 8 miles of Puget Sound waterfront views passing through several South Seattle communities, neighborhoods including Seahurst, Three Tree Point, Normandy Park, and Des Moines. The total distance of the ride is 22 miles and the elevation is 1500 feet.
The ride will start and finish at the South Marina Park parking lot at the Des Moines Marina. The South Marina Park is located at the corner of 6th Ave S and S 227th Street, Des Moines, it is located kitty corner from Anthony's Home Port. The lot is next to a painted mural. There are public restrooms at the North end of the marina next to the public pier.
We will start promptly at 9:00 AM, please arrive early enough to set up, sign in, and hear the safety S.M.A.R.T briefing.
The pace of this ride is moderate, 14-16 mph on flat roads with no headwinds. Hills are self paced. This is a training ride so we will ride with the best interest of the group in mind. We will regroup at the top of hills for a reasonable amount of time as well as at major turns. Stops will be brief. Please print out and bring a cue sheet or download to your device (Ride With GPS link (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15763131)). Long fenders and buddy flaps are absolutely required unless it is bone dry out, and zero percent chance of rain in the forecast.
Brief Refreshment Stop: Manhattan Shopping Center (QFC & Starbucks with restroom) at mile 18.
