Stephen Sonnenberg, M.D., a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, specializes in interdisciplinary research on war, violence, psychic trauma, and post-traumatic psychological disorders. He teaches at the Baylor College of Medicine. In this lecture he will “paint the picture of soldiers and veterans of war suffering from traumatic stress; describe the ways this appears in our culture, such as homelessness, addiction, incarceration, and suicide; and discuss ways these problems can be best addressed, by a collaboration of mental health professionals, humanities scholars and teachers, and concerned members of the community.”
Dr. Sonnenberg participated as a Humanities Institute Faculty Fellow in Spring 2010 and organized the very popular HI series, "Teaching Our Teenagers to Think About War and Peace."
